THE SERVICE INDUSTRY. all work is a service you sell you time and provide the buyer your service . The buyer of your time ( your boss ) sell his service to a consumer .  Service is the act of building a thing like Cars or Computers , or providing information , cooking in a restaurant , or providing lodging etc. etc. 
For example if a company did not provide the service of building it you would have to build your own car . Every job can be found to be SERVICE job .

Yet i want you to think about service in terms of activities , like Cleaning , grass cutting , Automotive detailing , Snow plowing , Gutter Cleaning , Window washing , Chimney Sweeping , think in terms of repeat contract income .

NOW < Realize the problems of most companies is in getting good employees . There is always a market for a good honest hardworking owner/operator SERVICE COMPANY .

ONE OF THE BEST WAYS TO LEARN A TRADE IS TO WORK FOR A GOOD COMPANY FOR 6 MONTHS . keep YOU EYES AND EARS OPEN TO THE METHODS OF THAT COMPANY . 

How do they advertise ?
What is their base pricing ?
Where do they buy supplies?
What do the people in the company think about their competitors ?
what are the problems the comapy has ? Lack of emplyess or employees providing poor service ? 
Use the problems of that company while selling your service company later 

YET !  NEVER NEVER NEVER  sell yourself by BAD MOUTHING  the competition , it the competition is bad it will show , their weakness is already felt in the market place .
